Drum roll please. The winners of the Arts & Business Council’s 2012 Music City Corporate Band Challenge were announced last night, following the performances of seven corporate bands, assembled just for this annual event.
The bands, whose talented members have regular day jobs in local businesses, played to a sold-out house of over 500 paying ticket holders at the Wildhorse Saloon.
The winners are:
The top three bands received cash prizes to donate to the arts organization of their choice. The first place winner, The Hummingbirds from Avenue Bank, will also perform at the 2012 CMA Festival and the 2013 Arts & Business Council Bowtie Awards.

The Music City Corporate Band Challenge was co-chaired by business leaders Ron Samuels, CEO Avenue Bank, and Bob Wood, managing partner, Bradley Arant Boult Cummings. Don Cusic served as emcee for the event.
Band challenge judges were Kitty Moon Emery, CEO of Kitty Moon Enterprises; Tony Conway, president of Conway Entertainment Group; and Gary Kraen, director of programming and operations at WRLT – Lightning 100. Each band performed ten minutes and were judged on musicianship, appearance, music selection, crowd appeal and overall presentation.
