BusinessTN magazine names Avenue Bank one of “25 Best Employers” in Tennessee

 May, 2009

Nashville, TN – Avenue Bank has been selected as one of the “25 Best Employers” in Tennessee by BusinessTN magazine, based on recent surveys of employees.

Avenue Bank achieved a very impressive overall score of 95% from the employee survey.  The “Best Companies Group” considers any score higher than 80% as a strong indicator of a “best place to work.”    In the “engagement” category, which measures how much associates enjoy working at their company, Avenue Bank associates yielded a score of 98%.  At the time of the survey, Avenue Bank had 69 employees, and 63 of those associates participated in the survey.

“Creating a company that is a great place to work was one of the founding principles of Avenue Bank,” said Ronald L. Samuels, President and Chief Executive Officer of Avenue Bank.

“It is so rewarding to see it come to fruition. It is each employee making a positive contribution to our work environment, to serving our customers, and to growing our business every day. I could not be more proud of the company we are building together.”

This is the second consecutive year that Avenue Bank has been named to the prestigious statewide ranking. Avenue Bank opened in July, 2007, and currently has 71 employees.

The survey included 72 statements and two open-ended questions designed to measure employees’ day-to-day experience. The results of the survey and the new “25 Best Employers” listing appear in the magazine’s May/June edition.

The profile states that ”The employees of Avenue Bank feel like part of a family, a mindset that is reinforced by meetings that are called “Family Gatherings” and the sharing of “wow” stories by employees – success stories about employees going the extra mile and delivering extraordinary service to the bank’s customers.”  The survey consisted of 8 categories: work environment, overall engagement, leadership, role satisfaction, culture, relationship with supervisor, pay and benefits and training.

“The Best Employers program is designed to honor the companies in Tennessee that show a dedication to employee growth, development and quality of life. In partnership with the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), the survey is managed by Best Companies Group.” – Candace Moonshower, BusinessTN magazine, May/June 2009.

Establishment of Avenue Bank was announced in December of 2006, and in March of 2007 officials announced an initial capitalization of $75 million – making Avenue Bank one of the most heavily capitalized start-up banks in the South. The bank recently reported its assets have exceeded $400 million.

With headquarters in the historic Baggage Building at Union Station, Avenue Bank has four concierge service branches in Nashville and Franklin: Cummins Station at 209 10th Avenue South, 2930 West End Avenue, in Green Hills at 3823 Cleghorn Avenue, and in Cool Springs at The Carothers Park Shoppes, 101 International Drive.
