Commercial Banking Assistant

The Avenue Bank Commercial Banking Team is looking for a Commercial Banking Assistant.  The successful candidate will be able to recognize, embrace and support the “Avenue Way.”  Demonstration of this will be evidenced by work practices, integrity, and a demeanor consistent with the personality of client service excellence representing Avenue Bank both internally and externally. 

Commercial Banking Assistant:  The person in this role will work primarily with the Director of Commercial Banking and Commercial Relationship Managers and is responsible for maximizing administrative and operational efficiency for the Commercial Relationship Managers.  Assists the RMs in serving client needs, and provides other client services as required.

  • Coordinates the daily workflow in and out of the department to ensure that current loans are in complete conformity with terms.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate files and records for loan documents.
  • Develops and prepares reports and records relating to loans as required.
  • Coordinates the workflow with related departments.
  • Proactively, participates with and assists Relationship Managers in serving the bank’s clients.
  • Orders title searches, flood certificates, property appraisals and credit reports as needed.
  • Obtains financial data and provides client service on approved lines of credit and loans.
  • Reviews loans and other documents to assure conformity to bank standards and policies.
  • Provides clients with routine platform services, such as approving checks for cashing or handling client service needs.
  • Opens new accounts. Enters stop payments. Initiates automatic funds transfers.
  • Reviews daily NSF and Overdraft reports and consults with assigned account officers on disposition.
  • Enters loans and all related loan transactions into the computer system.
  • Answers the phone, answers clients’ questions, refers them to the appropriate bank resources, etc. while providing world class service.

Qualifications and Requirements Include:  General Education or Associates Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; or a minimum of six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Strong communication skills and client service skills.  Problem solving skills are important.  Knowledge of basic banking and compliance regulations and privacy laws.  A can-do attitude.  Ability to be proactive about finding ways to help RMs find more time to produce.   Ability to manage competing priorities.  Significant experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is essential.  Knowledge of banking applications.
